[GENERAL INFO]

Grimiku: Tell us a bit about yourself.

SpongeBob #1790: I am a young father of a 3 year old boy. I'm also a gaming enthusiast since the age of 10. Having not played that many games, I spend a fair bit of time and thought for every of them. I like to explore new ideas and see them realized as much as I can. Gaming has become a necessary activity since it exhausts my brain after a day of work and allows me to get a good night's sleep.

Grimiku: Got any cool hobbies or talents?

SpongeBob #1790: I am an amateur bodybuilder although Diablo 3 has pretty much put that on hold for a couple months now. I enjoy reading about topics that randomly catch my attention; these days, I read up on spacetime researches in my free time. Smoking ribs is my favorite hobby. My wife and I go to the movies every weekend, religiously. I take up new hobbies quite frequently but most of them don't stick.

Grimiku: How long have you been playing Diablo games?

SpongeBob #1790: I can't remember exactly but I played D2 since the early 2000's. Where I lived, we didn't have anything faster than dial-up back then so single player was all there is. In 2011, a client gave me a copy of Starcraft 2 as a gift and through following the media on Blizzard, I learned about D3 and would not miss the chance this time. I was there on the release night.

Grimiku: What other games are you currently playing right now (if any)?

SpongeBob #1790: Starcraft 2, casually. I also am waiting for an invitation to Beta testing Heroes of the Storm. New Path of Exile league is also on my schedule but I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to afford D3 and POE at the same time.

Grimiku: Do you play any other classes?

SpongeBob #1790: Demon Hunter and Wizard are also my favorite classes. Sadly, my Wizard is Seasonal so I have to wait till S1 is over for her to have access to my non-seasonal resources.

Grimiku: Are you in a great clan or community? If yes, tell us about them!

SpongeBob #1790: I'm not really active in my clan.

Grimiku: What item have you found that you're most proud of?

SpongeBob #1790: My Unrelenting Phalanx is great as it has all the desirable offensive rolls at top range. My Baleful Remnant is also awesome, especially since it is very hard to find a good Baleful Remnant due to its natural socket. I've also found a Holy Stone of Jordan and a Fire Stone of Jordan with near perfect Elemental roll and Damage to Elite roll plus natural socket.

Grimiku: What's your most embarrassing moment while playing?

SpongeBob #1790: I have moments when I try to put together Greater Rift teams and just can't fill it, guys would just wait 30 minutes without a single complaint. Kudos to players who have waited long hours for good cooperative games and also those who organize groups, you guys are the crucial building blocks of a great community.

Grimiku: Okay, what about your most AWESOME moment while playing?

SpongeBob #1790: It has to be the moment Kadala gave me my Unrelenting Phalanx. I also got emotional first time beating Greater Rift 38 with Petsader.

Grimiku: How often do you think of new builds, and try them out?

SpongeBob #1790: I think of new idea every day before going to bed. It's a great exercise for my brain and I try them out at least twice a week. As long as a build is fun and effective, I will try it out.

[THE CRUSADE MARCHES ON]

Grimiku: What drew you to the Crusader?

SpongeBob #1790: The class was new and I thought it would be the best to explore. I came back do D3 after a long hiatus and a new class was a necessary morale booster. Since then I've geared every class as much as my interest allows and Crusader remains my favorite. We have the best movement skill and the most reliable signature skill that is Akarat Champion. Whats not to like?

Grimiku: What kind of Crusader are you: do you wade into the thick of battle to crush your foes or call down the wrath of the heavens from afar?

SpongeBob #1790: I favor offensive prowess and will do whatever it takes to obliterate hordes of monsters in the most efficient way. Being melee or ranged is just a vessel to carry out that thought. Outside of Condemn, the Crusader lacks awesome short range attacks and I'm looking forward to changes in the future.

Grimiku: What's your favorite skill (or skill rune), and why?

SpongeBob #1790: This is a tricky question. If I can choose only one, it has to be the Bowmen rune of Phalanx. It got one of the most powerful single target damage in the game with zero ramp-up time. With enough Increased Attack Speed, bowmen can act as a semi-AOE attack since they can attack most of the targets on screen within a reasonable time frame. The rune offers a great dynamic.

Grimiku: What build are you running currently?

SpongeBob #1790: Petsader. It's been great fun for a lot less work, literally.

Grimiku: If there was one thing you could change about the Crusader, what would it be?

SpongeBob #1790: I would re-distribute the elements Fire, Lightning, Holy, and Physical between all skills. This would immediately allow more synergy for players to create new builds. As you know, Phalanx is Physical only while Heaven Fury doesn't have any Physical or Fire rune.

Grimiku: Name one piece of advice that you think every Crusader should know.

SpongeBob #1790: I think new Crusader should not get hooked too deep on the idea of "best" builds. A game like Diablo is where you have the freedom to exercise your ideas and come up with something unique of your own. Staple builds may be great to help you gear up but you are entitled to much more. Don't close doors to oddball builds because they give you great knowledge about the class.

Grimiku: How did you come up with the PetSader build?

SpongeBob #1790: For me, speed is the name of the game. First I started by improving upon the powerful post 2.1 Firestarter build utilizing 2 handed weapons such as Maximus and Furnace.

The core improvement was the two damage-over-time (DOT) gems Pain Enhancer and Gem of Efficacious Toxin. Consecration - Shattered Ground, FotH - Heaven Tempest, and Heaven's Fury - Blessed Ground are great means to deliver powerful DOTs while I am on the move, with minimal casting.

Upon attempting to further cut the casting to improve clear speed, I stumbled upon Bowmen - utilizing Unrelenting Phalanx and Eternal Reunion. As I mentioned above, bowmen can set large mobs on fire with little effort. I came up with a hybrid build using Shield Cross/Fissure as main spender.

Later on, I figured bowmen was the thing making the build shine; together with the Gems, they accounted for most of the damage I dealt. I decided to revamp my damage output by dedicating everything I had to Bowmen. That means getting rid of the Armor of Akkhan since I no longer used any spender. I could then have the liberty to slap on all the best Pet-oriented items such as Tasker and Theo and Hexing Pants of Mr. Yan. The result has been delightful.
