| Since 2.1.1 I've been getting a large number of crashes. What happens is: - Game freezes for a few seconds - Screen becomes solid black, except for the cursor (I can still hear the game sounds, move around, use abilities, and die, etc.) - Desktop and ctrl+alt+delete are both black also, but I can see the Windows Start button and the outlines of windows. Everything inside an open window is black. - I'm able to click the Start button and restart my PC because when I hover over shutdown I can see the options to restart, sleep, etc. pop up for a split second before turning black as well. It seems to happen intermittently. Sometimes I can finish two or three rifts with nothing going wrong, other times it happens 5-10 minutes into a game. When able to, I use CPUID HWMonitor and my CPU max temp is around 70C and my GPU max temp is 63C. Running an Intel i5 3470 and Radeon HD 7870. I've tried playing Diablo 3 with lowered settings, VSync on, both in fullscreen and windowed modes. I tried updating my graphics drivers to the latest version, but that just changed it to getting a BSOD. Currently running Catalyst Control Center version 13.4. Any suggestions? | ||

| Dreamer, Catalyst 13.4 is pretty old. The latest drivers should not be causing a BSOD. If they do, it would suggest other issues with your computer. Can you post some information about your computer? | Dreamer, Could you check in your System log for any errors taking place when you see this behavior? To do that, you need to open Administrative Tools in the Control Panel, then open the Event Viewer. When that's up, click on the arrow next to Windows Logs along the left side to expand it and then click on System. Now along the right side, click on Filter Current Log.... and check the Error box followed by hitting OK. This will make the log much easier to search as it will only display errors now. I'm interested in any occurring when you experience the black screen condition. | Dreamer, Hmm, none of that really stands out to me as anything related to Diablo III. "atksgt.sys" appears to be tied to copy protection for some games, but not Diablo III. If these all occurred in the same time period more or less, you'd probably want to start with the bottom entry which would have taken place first. Are you in fact using a Homegroup on your system/network? All the mentions of "access denied" might be due to permissions too I suppose. | Dreamer, You might try updating your sound drivers. I wouldn't necessarily think the video card is defective though. Driver Name: RTKVHD64.sys Driver Version: 6.00.0001.6690 (English) Driver Attributes: Final Retail WHQL Logo'd: n/a Date and Size: 7/24/2012 04:47:38, 4097808 bytes This is a link to the latest I could find for Realtek.
