I generally have no issues ever with nerfs/ buffs.

It is what it is.

However, this new reduced gem cost for enchanting jewelry brings up a problem with me.

Recently I converted all almost all my gems into flawless imperials in preparation for future dice rolls of items. Another reason I did this was to increase my usable stash space because I was carrying so many gems in the first place.

So Blizzard, this is what's happening:

1) I'm picking up gems (You want us to pick up stuff)
2) My stash is getting stuffed with gems (Since I pick up stuff)
3) All these gems are reducing my stash space (Since I pick up stuff and need a place to put it)

I'm doing what I suppose the developers are intending me to do.

Now I convert say:

3000 Marquise Diamonds into 1000 Imperials and then into 333 Flawless Imperials.

Great I saved a couple slots in my stash, and I can continue doing as blizzard intends which is pick up stuff.

Multiple this process for each different type of gem.

Fast forward to today:

I cannot use the 333 Flawless Imperials anymore. They are useless to me. Who will need that many imperials?

I've wasted probably over a billion gold converting all my gems into flawless imperials.

I still have my extra bit of stash space.

Moving forward:

I don't care about the gold, its a billion but it can be farmed. But the farming and picking up of 3000 of ONE gem. I have 3000+ of EACH gem. That is a lot of time spent. Now they are utterly useless.

I would like to see Blizzard implement some sort of function at the jeweler that can deconstruct large gems into smaller gems.

As well as trade one type of gem to another type of gem.

Or adjust the gem requirements for jewelry to include TWO types of gems that can be used instead of one.

Even if there is a gold sink cost associated with it, it would be nice if there was an option.

Hey there, Boozor. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I wanted to jump in to give you an idea of where our thinking is on this right now.

The goal in reducing the gem cost for Rings and Amulets from a Flawless Imperial gem to an Imperial gem was to give more players the opportunity to enchant their jewelry more often. While the previous cost was intended to be limiting, for many players it ended up being prohibitive.

In the end, we want you to be able to enchant your jewelry (particularly now that Legendary gems are in the game), so reducing the cost was the best possible decision—not only for the long-term health of the game, but for your immediate enjoyment too.

That said, thanks for the great feedback and criticism. We’ve plans for the future to add more uses for high level gems. It’s a little too early to share any details just yet (sorry for the tease!), but we just wanted you to know that there will be opportunities down the road to put the gems you’ve crafted to good use beyond just socketing your gear.
