The world of Sanctuary is a BIG place, defended by hundreds of thousands of heroes each and every day. To help you get to know some of these fellow nephalem a little better, we've created the Fresh Meat N' Greet.

The Fresh Meet N' Greet is a recurring series of interviews featuring you, our community. A few times each month, we'll sit down and chat with six different community members, one for each class, and then post our Q&As right here in these forums.

Up this week for Crusaders: WordMaster#1125

Read on below to find out more about your fellow ally in battle!

[GENERAL INFO]

Grimiku: Tell us a bit about yourself.

WordMaster: I'm twenty-one. I currently live in Colorado. I work in retail and take college classes part time. I'm studying to become a teacher.

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and bicycling. I read lots of fantasy, science fiction, and comix. I listen to music, mostly alt rock and metal, and all of it way too loud.

I've been playing video games since a friend lent me a copy of Pokemon Red at age six. I've been playing Diablo 3 on and off since its release.

Grimiku: Got any cool hobbies or talents?

WordMaster: This may seem like a strange hobby, but I really enjoy reading books out loud. I read a lot to my younger brother as a kid, since he's legally blind and was still learning Braille at the time. I've moved out of the house now, but I still call him up about once a week and read him a short story or comic of his choosing.

Grimiku: How long have you been playing Diablo games?

WordMaster: Diablo 3 introduced me to the series. Since then, I've played through the campaign of Diablo 2, albeit very casually. I have yet to try the original Diablo.

Grimiku: What other games are you currently playing right now (if any)?

WordMaster:None at the moment, but I'm a fan of the Torchlight and Borderlands series.

Grimiku: Do you play any other classes?

WordMaster: I occasionally play my Barbarian, but mostly I focus on my two Crusaders.

Grimiku: Are you in a great clan or community? If yes, tell us about them!

WordMaster: I'm a member of the "Shadow Legions" clan. I've had a great experience with them so far, and made a lot of good friends.

I also enjoy the "Crusaders" community, and usually keep the chat open while I play to see the items people are linking. "T6 Non-Legit Rifters" is also an awesome community for finding like-minded people to run Rifts with.

Grimiku: What item have you found that you're most proud of?

WordMaster: My Fate of the Fell. It's the cornerstone of my whole build, and I like the flavor text on it as well.

Grimiku: What's your most embarrassing moment while playing?

Grimiku: What about your most AWESOME moment while playing?

WordMaster: What if the moment was both embarrassing AND awesome?

About two months ago, I was rifting with my friend, and we'd split up to cover a large map. Suddenly, he dropped his banner and said that he'd found a chest. I ported to him, assuming that he meant a Resplendent. But when I got there, it was just a regular chest.

"You idiot," I told him. "Nothing drops from those." But then, he opened it, and a green beam of light shot out. It ended up being a pair of Akkhan Gloves, the only piece of the set I was missing. They rolled well too, with high Strength and Crit Damage. Pretty awesome, right?

The embarrassing part came during the following weeks, as my friend wasted no opportunity to remind me of my mistake. "Hey, WordMaster, nice gloves! Where'd you get them? Oh, WordMaster, don't bother opening that chest, man. Nothing drops from those." And so on. Now I can't walk past a chest without opening it.

Grimiku: If you could live in any city in Sanctuary, where would it be?

WordMaster: Kingsport, of course! Lyndon speaks very highly of it, and he seems like a trustworthy guy.

[THE CRUSADE MARCHES ON]

Grimiku: What drew you to the Crusader?

WordMaster: I was drawn to the Crusader by the substantial buffs the class received in Patch 2.05, particularly the crowd control immunity that was added to Akarat's Champion. I'm the type of player who likes to keep up a constant offensive, so elite affixes like Knockback and Nightmarish can be frustrating. Now that I've completed my Akkhan set and worked a decent amount of Cooldown Reduction onto my gear, I can stay in Champ most of the time and simply ignore these effects. I like that feeling of being unstoppable, and it brings back good memories of my Whirlwind / HotA Barbarian from vanilla D3.

Grimiku: What kind of Crusader are you: do you wade into the thick of battle to crush your foes or call down the wrath of the heavens from afar?

WordMaster: I prefer to fight at close quarters. Being closer to my enemies allows me to hit them with multiple Fires of Heaven beams simultaneously.

Grimiku: What's your favorite skill (or skill rune), and why?

WordMaster: My favorite skill would have to be Akarat's Champion @ Prophet. It's the complete package: More damage, more toughness, more Wrath, and crowd control immunity. I like having that second life to fall back on as well. It promotes a reckless, fast-paced style of gameplay that I really enjoy, especially when combined with the Crusader's "Indestructible" passive.

Grimiku: What build are you running currently?

WordMaster: I'm running a variant on Torin's "Immortal Shotgun" build, which was posted here on the forums a few months ago. I have gear to support other builds as well, such as Firelight and Physical Stampede, but Shotgun is by far and away my favorite.

Grimiku: If there was one thing you could change about the Crusader, what would it be?

WordMaster: I'd like to see more support for melee-oriented Crusader builds, which currently have trouble surviving at high Greater Rift levels. This could come in the form of changes to certain skills, defensive buffs for the Roland set, or completely new items. I'd like there to be a mechanic in the game that rewards players who consistently stay in melee range for longer amounts of time.

Grimiku: Name one piece of advice that you think every Crusader should know.

WordMaster: I'm tempted to quote some famous philosopher here, but I'll stick with something more practical. Check out Deadset Gaming's guide to gearing a beginner Crusader. You can find it on Reddit, and he's also posted a video version on YouTube. It's well-written and extremely accessible for newer players.

Grimiku: What drink do you think your Crusader would order at a bar?

WordMaster: My Crusader acknowledges that there's a higher power, and respectfully orders a virgin daiquiri.

Grimiku: Pick a Crusader quote!

WordMaster: Do quotes from "The End of Her Journey" count? I've always liked young Lilsa's description of Anajinn and her apprentice: "The nice ladies wearing the shiny metal."

[WHO'S NEXT?]

Grimiku: Which of your fellow Crusaders should we also interview?

WordMaster: I would recommend Deadset#2627 or Khanjali#1974.

Grimiku: Pick a question to ask in the next interview:

WordMaster: Personally, I think you should remove the question format altogether. Just provide a space for these players to discourse freely about themselves, their class, and the game in general. I think that would generate a lot of interesting discussion.
