Non-M6 players - Where you at now?(1)Category: Demon HunterAugust-4-2014 12:38 PM PDT (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Too many M6 and buff DH threads here, not enough non-M6 love. So please post your general gameplay results and observations here. This is just for sharing and to show a general consensus of where the non-M6 players are at currently.

My results
A Solid T5 with either Chakram, CA or MS in eyes half-closed mode for the most part. Everything else, I will be focusing on T6 and PTR.
Update 5:
Rapid Fire / Spike Traps / Caltrops / Sentry -T6 PTR
This is a weird one, its viable for high level play but its very slow. Note I do not have the new RF bow and used M4 to make it work. Sucks on single targets, but good on packs. Finished T6 bounties without much of a fuss but I wouldn't put it at T6 viability. It's above strafe but nowhere near EA/MS/FoK.
Update 4:
Immolation Arrow/Buriza - T6 PTR
If you thought frost arrow was purpose-build for Burizza, this skill owns it. 1245% to 3 targets in a mob, with 945% AoE. Good size projectile too. This is my fastest clear yet and ahead of MS: Arsenal/FoK with none of the regen-issues. Note: Currently, DoT interaction with RD means near instant-death. Until they fix it, use it at your own risk.
Update 3:
Bola/FoK - T5 PTR
FoK is without a doubt, the closest in terms of clear-speed to CA/MS. Bola in this case, helps to save and regen hatred. Combined with Buriza, it gives your FoK dive-bombs another 1-2 FoKs worth of damage when you make all the bolas explode at once. As of now, it is possible to destroy an elite pack with less than 1 globe of hatred. Will redo in T6 once I get some FoK% and Holypoint quiver.
Update 2:
Strafe/FoK - T5 PTR
Without question the slowest spender. However, throwing on old Sash of Knives + FoK and dive-bombing mobs brought it up to speed with multishot. Please decide whether you want Strafe to be mobility (make it cheaper) or spender (increase damage and cost per time), and adjust accordingly.
Update 1:
Multishot bounty farming - T6 Live
Surprisingly, MS:Arsenal with ambush is still almost a 1-shot crit on smaller mobs. Haven't bothered trying rifts. With double Unity/Aughilds/Smoke Screen, surviving T6 shouldn't be too much of an issue. Chakram is too annoying with all the running you have to do on T6. No leet kiting skills here. Also, still not using M4.

Skill/Gear choices
- All the above was done as per my current DH profile with just the spender changed.
- If I do use M4 bonuses, I will state it.
- To adapt to 2.1, Punishment is used sparsely.
- Mostly, the only equipment switch is Pride's Fall for CA/MS and Andy's for Chakram
- Didn't bother changing gear with other bonuses and stuff. Didn't need them.
- Yes, I know I should use Aughilds.

Random Observations
From live:
- Multishot: Arsenal + Ambush can still one-shot crit small mobs on T5.
- Chakram is a bit annoying to play because of how often you need to cast it
- Still run out of hatred with CA with no punishment (something to note for 2.1)
- No idea what to put on left-click so used MfD. Never used it. No need generators.

From PTR:
- Anywhere below T6 and spike traps aren't worth it, even on 2.1.
- RF is actually really really good, though I wish they'll make the non-AoE runes better.
- Strafe is still crap. It is the last place spender now. Even a FoK build should beat it.
- With a bit of effort and decent gear, just about any spender (aside from Strafe) works on T6.
- Immolation Arrow rocks!!!

General Changes I want going into 2.1

Non-M6 builds will still need to be buffed of course, but anywhere more than a 15%-20% buff will trivialise T6, putting it squarely into buffing for the sake of gRifts territory. T6 should be the standard come next patch, regardless of build, with the painful exception of STRAFE.

Note: I don't even have Ramadingdong, so that's 10% damage I'm missing. But 15%-20% for the general player should be fine.

Spike Traps got the wrong buff. Their damage is very awesome in 2.1, but its still too pointless to use when everything just dies so fast. You can make a case for elites and rift guardians, but its still very hard to justify a place for Spike Traps for most builds, M6 or not, below max difficulty. Please lower the arm and re-arm time. You can cut the damage to rebalance, I don't care.

Generators still suck. I don't care how much you buff them at this point, I JUST DON'T SEE AN EFFECTIVE USE CASE SCENARIO FOR THEM. Maybe in conjunction with CA, since that's the build with the most resource issues... but MS/EA/Chakram/RF users shouldn't have a need to bother with them. If you do, you're probably over-extending the difficulty anyway and would be more efficient on T4-T5.

TL;DR
- My DH trashes my monk just by throwing random spenders on it.
- Strafe is !@#$. Blizzard, fix it.

I like where this thread is heading, and I'm definitely all about encouraging discussions that explore and analyze builds. Something Nubtro did on the Barbarian forums is put together a PTR Greater Rift challenge to test this sort of stuff out, and it seems to be doing a good job of getting folks to participate. It could be fun if there was a Demon Hunter version, so here's the link in case anyone is interested. Great thread, Wilson!
