Game crashing every 15 mins(1)Category: Technical SupportJuly-3-2014 6:54 AM PDT (8 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
My game will dump back out to my desktop roughly 15 minutes into playing, so I am unable to complete an act's bounties or a rift before I drop. The game will even kick me out if I am standing in one place in town not doing anything (like I'm physically in the other room kind of nothing). This only started around when the latest patch was released. I hadn't changed anything on my computer since then when it would run for an entire session of multiple bounties or rifts with some friends etc (also crashed in when I'm the only one in the game). Character doesn't matter. I did update my video card driver over the weekend, but that hasn't fixed anything. The game launcher stays open when the game closes and the pop-up asks if I would like to reopen. 5-10% of the time I'll get a BSOD. I monitored my video card temps last night and they stayed flat the while I was playing. Here's the list of messages I got when I got kicked out 7 times on 6/20 while trying to do rifts with my friend. I ran the Blizz game diagnose tool and it said there were no errors. The third line was when I tried to relaunch after the 2nd one there.

Took the last 2 weeks off, loaded up last night, crashed again, so I launched today while watching my temps while I played and crashed, here's what I got:

GPU 30C idle 29% fan

CPU 44C fan 1229rpm
GPU 76C (set to 80 max) fan 82%

Leg3ndary,

In looking through all of the crashes you've submitted info for, I'm seeing they're all a bit different from each other. This is suggesting possible memory corruption might be occurring.

Could you try running an exhaustive system ram test? I'd like you to use Memtest86+ if possible and let it run overnight or at least 12 hours. The sight I've linked is to an .iso download file. ti needs to be extracted to bootable media such as a cd/dvd or flash drive. This allows the max amount of ram to be tested without an OS installed.

Leg3ndary,

This suggests your system ram could be the cause for your issue.

Can you download/run CPU-Z for me? After you start it, go to the tools button on the bottom and select the save reports as .txt.

Post the resultant file, but edit out the ACPI section at the bottom as it's not needed.

This report will let me see the info about your current system ram. I need to verify the modules are the same and check the timings. If you already know they're not matched, you might want to remove and reconfigure them to make sure what's used is matched and then re-run the Memtest program.

Leg3ndary,

I think what I'd try if you're willing is to remove one of the Dimm modules, and set the other to run at the slowest JEDEC settings (JEDEC #1 5.0-5-5-14-19 @ 380 MHz), then try the game again and see if it's stable without crashing. This would pretty much eliminate the ram as a source of the problem if it continues and point to it if it stops.

demon,

Your crashing doesn't appear to be related to the OP. Could you start up a new thread and post your crash codes in it again for reference. Then also post your dxdiag info as it seems to be sound-related and I'd like to verify your drivers are current for your sound card.

You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here.

Lion,

It's doubtful Leg3ndary is still hanging around the forum as his last post in this thread was over a month ago.

Changing the ram timing is done in the systems's BIOS. You can consult your motherboard's documentation for information on that.

Before doing that though, let's get some info from you about your computer's configuration.

It would also be helpful to see a CPU-Z log. this will give us the current ram timings among a few other important details. You'll need to download the CPU-Z utility from

http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.70-setup-en.exe

When you run the utility, click on Tools at the bottom, then save report as TXT. Save it with a name of your choosing and a location you'll be able to find. Close the tool and open the file with a text editor like Notepad. Scroll down through the file and delete everything starting with the ACPI section. This will save a little space as that info isn't helpful at this point.

After saving the edited file, post it as well in your reply.
