| Profanity in Clan Chat - What's Your View?(1) | Category: GeneralJune-5-2014 11:15 AM PDT (9 years ago) ![]() | |
| So I just had 4 clan members leave the MOO clan because I politely asked them to watch their language in clan chat. Am I being too strict to try to keep the clan chat free from 'F' bombs? Bear in mind we have some teen members, and I try to adopt a flexible policy and allow words like piss and sh1t, etc, though I do not particularly like to see them, but I felt a line had to be drawn with use of the 'F' word. So I'd like to ask you fellow D3 players, should there be moderation of clan chat and was I right or wrong in your view to ask players to avoid dropping F bombs in chat? EXCERPT FROM POST BELOW - 2) This isn't just about MY finding F bombs mildly offensive, it's about the general TONE and atmosphere we try to have in the clan. I try to encourage and foster a sense of fun and playfulness and nice friendly banter, and the F word just lowers the tone in my view. Is this a matter of principle and standards, or am i just old fashioned? | ||

You have your right asking them to not drop f bombs, and they have the right to leave and find a guild that doesnt mind them dropping f bombs That's pretty much the long and short of it. We have included a Profanity Filter, as many others have referenced, if that's something that you personally don't wish to see. However, it's also your Clan chat - you're welcome to set and enforce your rules how you see fit, just as players are welcome to join or leave a clan as they please. Clan and Community management tools are a bit limited at the time, but for those of you heading your own groups - are there tools that you'd like to see us implement? We'd like to expand on such features down the road in a future patch, and it's always a good plan to be having these discussions in advance. :) | ||
