| First off, I want to make it clear that Im an advanced user. I have tried everything you are already thinking in terms of how to get the launcher to function properly within my current means. 1. I am on limited internet. I cannot do a fresh game install and download 15gb of game data 2. Having someone give me the updated game on a drive is an option, but one that would take a week or more to actually do. 3. Whats that? Just launch the l;auncher and let it update the game, you say? Why didnt I think of that!! 3a. Oh alright.. I need to launch the launcher and go into "Game Install/Update" and make sure the defualt install directory is correct in all instrances? Hmm Thats a new one too. Hold on while I get my cain and reading glasses. OH! MY HIP! 3b. Restart my computer? Sure thing... But last time I did it said Press Any button to continue. I had to pay $150 to get an ANY key installed custom on my keyboard! 3c. Can you sense my exasperation? The launcher is BAD. When it works, its fine. When it doesnt, its a ridiculous waste of time that dosnt do EXACTLY what it was made to do. Update my game. You want to know what Ive done 50 (literally more) times? Ive launched the game. Ive let it tell me there is an update. Ive let it try and update. It downloads SOMETHING that is roughly 20MB in size as told through my several network analyzation utilities and then gives me a bullpoop error about not being able to connect. Gee, could have fooled me by the fact the very process that "couldn't connect" was merrily downloading some phantom file just a moment before. 1. I have run things in admin mode 2. Run then in compatibility mode 3. Refreshed ownership of the entire folder 4. Sacrificed stolen dolls to old gods. 5. Rain dance. 6. CENSORED NSFW Seriously. This got old a long time ago. if I could do s fresh install I would. I cant and I am at the mercy of a entire flipping program whos one main job is to DOWNLOAD AN UPDATE, and it is utterly failing to do this consistently no matter what I do. SO I ASK YOU, BLIZZARD, KIND PEOPLE OF THIS FORUM where the bloody heck can I download this update manually? Can someone supply this? I need the Diablo III.exe and the most recent file in the updates folder. Thats all. Those are the two files this launcher cannot seem to give to me. Thanks | ||

| Paultimate, I'm not sure why you're having a problem. To be sure it works, I renamed my Diablo III.exe file and deleted my Updates folder. then I ran the Scan and repair utility located in the Desktop App under the Options section for Diablo III. That step re-downloaded the Updates folder and the two files I had within. The Desktop App then stated I needed to Update (I have mine set to always ask, never do anything automatically) so I pressed the Update button and it retrieved the missing Diablo III.exe file next (60 mb approx) and my game is playable again. If you haven't yet, give this a shot. | Paultimate, Could you try creating a new user account and adding it to the admin group? Then log out of Windows and back in with the new account and try the game. | Paultimate, Are you using an antivirus app? If so, try temporarily disabling it and see if it helps. Ideally, it would be best if you could completely uninstall it but only do that if you know for certain you'll be able to re-install it again later. It's easy to misplace license codes for that sort of thing and I'd hate for you to be without an AV program.
