We all thought this game had RNG as the basis for drops when it turns out there are loot tables. RNG cannot explain how you get legendary item repeats after 10-20 drops in the same game nor can it explain how easy it is to obtain 3-4 of the same legendary from Kadala by gambling enough shards.

What we have every game is a 1/6 change that the one item we really want is going to be available and then it has to roll to actually drop. Stated another way you have an ~83% chance of not even having the item you want be possible to drop in every game. This explains how after 300+ hours I've only gotten 1 level 70 zuni drop. Why would you make only 1/6th of the loot table available every game? I started thinking about that and the answer made me furious.

Implementing an 83% chance to prevent you from getting the drop you want every game is a good way to keep you from getting the gear you want. If you didn't know there were loot tables you'd probably keep blindly grinding for a year. This is what Blizzard wants; they want you to ignorantly chew at the same content because that saves money. If every item were able to drop in every game you would gear up much faster because you always have a chance (no matter how small) to get that one super item.

Long story short (too late?) loot tables are unacceptable unless they are fixed or they can be determined by players through cheating. That's right.... the way you've setup the game makes people want to cheat. The current system for loot might be fine if you're running 4 of the same class at the same time with a macro program but running one character is an exercise in futility.

Since we know that the loot table is generated when you join a game I suspect it will only be a matter of time until we have the loot table packet sniffer add on (or Blizzard removes loot tables entirely). Most people I know who discover that all the loot isn't always available realize they've wasted their time and go play something else. Note that fixed loot tables are a completely different story than randomly generated and arbitrary loot tables.

At the end of the day everyone wants to feel some progress. The problem is that most of my friends hit a wall from around 200-400 paragon where they use the same exact items and no upgrades ever drop. When you can play a game for several hundred hours and have no improvements from drops you know you've got a problem.

For me the icing on the cake was when last night my Barbarian friend got a starmetal kukri with strength on it (and of course I wasn't in the game). I've decided in the end that this smart loot system is quite stupid and only a fool would want to play the game in this configuration.

Hi all, thread is being locked as it really doesn't lend itself to constructive conversation. We respectfully ask that you refrain from name calling or any other sort of behavior that may draw the ire of your fellow posters. Thank you for your understanding.

If you wish to recreate the topic in such a way that encourages civil discussion regarding why some players have criticism to offer, by all means do so.
