Disconnect on diablo and rifts 100% of time(1)Category: Technical SupportApril-28-2014 8:16 AM PDT (9 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
I am really getting upset that I can not fight diablo or do any rifts. I purchased the ROS and now I can not fight diablo without getting disconnected going through the portal.
When i make a rift and enter I get disconnect each time. So I have not even got to experience a rift yet.
I have done all that has been asked of me. I have posted what has been asked and still I can not enter either.
Please help.

Mountaindew,

Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here.

Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder.

And lastly, can you describe what sort of internet connection you have?

Mountaindew,

It looks like you're using a pretty low-end machine which is likely contributing to the problem you're having.

For example, you can compare what you have with what's considered the higher end gear.

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+E-300+APU
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Radeon+HD+6310

For now, I really only have a couple of suggestions you can try to improve performance.

Edit your D3Prefs.txt file and change the hardware class to 1, remove the fps limiting you're employing for both the foreground and background, enable vsync, and lower the number of sound channels to 16.

Make sure nothing else is running in the background while you play as well.

Mountaindew,

It can all be done in the file if you like.

Change these lines: (in no particular order)

HardwareClass "2"
LimitForegroundFPS "1"
LimitBackgroundFPS "1"
ChannelsToUse "32"
Vsync "0"

to

HardwareClass "1"
LimitForegroundFPS "0"
LimitBackgroundFPS "0"
ChannelsToUse "16"
Vsync "1"
