Draconum, Your last pathping looks clean. I don't think your issue is related to the one in this thread. Please start a new thread and provide me with the link so I can assist you individually. ______________________________________________________ I'm available Monday through Friday from 11AM to 8PM Pacific Time Support Contact Information Got some feedback? I'm starting this thread at the request of Dankorii. The problems i've been having for the last couple of weeks (approx) are mostly High latency issues when starting a game. Normal ping is about 110ms for me. But when I start or join a game it's 900+ms and sometimes it takes up to a minute to go down to normal levels. Also it occassionally goes into the red when I jump zones. This also causes me to disconnect on occasion, especially when rifting in MP games. This has caused me to die several times in certain rifts where monsters will spawn right next to the exit. I'm also experiencing the occasional slow inventory screen, item drops taking time to show up, rubberbanding, and the occassional FPS drops when encountering elites that other people have complained about. These issues were not prominent prior to about 2 weeks ago. The reason it took me so long to post about it is that I have been doing everything I can to make sure it's not a problem on my end before I come forward with it. Now, a little bit about my system. I'm running dual boot XP and Win7 64Bit. I recently did a fresh install of BOTH OS's. Everything is up to date. I tried running D3 in both environments and I get the same results. On 7 I am running GeForce 335.23WHQL driver. I was running the same on XP but it's not WHQL certified. So this morning I did a complete uninstall, driver cleaning, and installed 327.23WHQL (which is the last WHQL for XP) and tested that out just to be sure it wasn't the previous driver. Unfortunately it didn't change anything. My pathping yesterday came up clean. This morning I did another pathping through each OS, and both came up clean. Also I has joined a clan in the last 2 weeks but this morning I left the clan to test out wether or not it affects my latency issue and it has no affect what so ever. My system is running great in everything else I do, including several MMO's. I've even made sure that nothing is over heating. As I stated before, I just wasn't having these problems (aside from the occasional, normal lag spikes) until about 2 weeks ago. Here is my Pathping and DXDiag from Win7. -----------Pathping-------------- Computing statistics for 375 seconds... | Draconum, I haven't forgotten about you. Just moving this over here from the previous thread so I don't have to switch back and forth. Before I even bothered posting this I did a lot of reading on here over the last week and seen A LOT of people with the same problems. I also tried a lot of trouble shooting with my system (just in case) because I did a recent rebuild. I'm now pretty confident it's on Blizz's end. So i've seen this update, stating that this problem was fixed. But i'm still having issues. Only it's just gotten worse. My avg latency is about 110ms. I used to be able to log into the game and have avg latency. Now I log in and my latency is through the roof. It's been 900+ upon log in for about the last 2 weeks and it takes a little while before dropping to avg. This creates a problem loading up areas, especially rifting and in MP. EDIT: Forgot to mention I also starting expericing the FPS and performance drops as others too, especially around elite enemies. Computing statistics for 375 seconds... I checked my pathping awhile ago. I know it's not on my end. I have a 1% loss in 1 area. That's not going to create a huge latency issue when I log in like I'm experiencing. I have no problems in any other online games, including several MMO's at the moment. 0 Latency issues in anything else online. ______________________________________________________ I'm available Monday through Friday from 11AM to 8PM Pacific Time Support Contact Information Got some feedback? | ||

| Draconum, Your modem/router combo also has a built in firewall. Let's make sure that the ports that D3 uses are allowed in that firewall. Here's a guide that will help with that: Actiontec MI-424-WR I noticed a few revisions of your modem/router combo. If the guide that I linked doesn't look like your interface check out this page http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Actiontec/default.htm#M Choose the one that best matches your version and then select Diablo III from the games listed. ______________________________________________________ I'm available Monday through Friday from 11AM to 8PM Pacific Time Support Contact Information Got some feedback? | ||

| Draconum, OK, so I'm not really seeing anything on your end, our end, or on a peering partner's end, which makes it hard to troubleshoot. Now, since this is happening on two computers on the same network it still could be network related. It could also be related to a program that they both use. 1. Do you know of a program that both of those have in common? 2. I know it may not be convenient, but to completely rule out the network being an issue, would you be able to take one of the systems to a different connection? Preferably an entirely different ISP, like a friend or family member's connection. 3. Since the pathpings and tracert aren't helping much, using a program such as 3D Traceroute may help us figure out the cause of the connection issue as it will take a trace route over time, rather than only for a single moment. Any spike in latency that occurs, should be displayed in the graph. You’ll want to keep 3D Traceroute running while you play and/or until you experience a latency issue in-game. You can then go back and check the 3D graph to see where any spikes might have occurred. 3D Traceroute can be downloaded here. Here’s what you need to do once 3D Traceroute has been downloaded and launched: 1. Enter the following information in the “Target†field located in the top left hand corner: 12.129.209.68 2. Click on the green “Trace†button located to the right of the “Target†filed to start the trace. ***You may want to watch 3D Traceroute for a few minutes to get an idea of what it actually does.*** 3D Traceroute tips: There are a few different views you may find useful, a "3D graph" and the "as List". The "as List" view will have a minimum, maximum, and average latency time for each hop as a numerical representation of the graph. It will also display the total data loss per hop, which is useful in locating a potential connection problem. The graph angle can be adjusted, but it should pretty much be left at default unless we request otherwise. Any spikes are just that, lag spikes, and any gaps represent data loss or timed out requests for data. A couple small spikes may be normal, but we should not see any gaps on a good connection. To save the Trace information: 1. Click on “Tools†located in the upper right hand corner and click on “Save Traceâ€. 2. Select “JPEG†under the picture tab, and then click on “Saveâ€. 3. Next, click on the “Data†tab 4. Ensure that “Text†is selected, and click on “Saveâ€. ***Save the files somewhere that is easy for you to find them, such as the Desktop or My Documents. Then save the pictures on a site like http://photobucket.com/ and provide the link so I can take a look.*** ______________________________________________________ I'm available Monday through Friday from 11AM to 8PM Pacific Time Support Contact Information Got some feedback? | ||

| Draconum, Thanks for running the 3d Tracert. Too bad it didn't really pinpoint where the issue might be coming from. Let's try running a selective startup to see if this is maybe being caused by some background application. Please be aware that running while in this mode can potentially disable any security programs you may have running. Here's a support article with steps on how run the selective startup: Closing Background Applications ______________________________________________________ I'm available Monday through Friday from 11AM to 8PM Pacific Time Support Contact Information Got some feedback? | ||

| Draconum, Is there anything on a persons D3 account that could possibly cause latency issues? The only thing I can think of that might be affecting the actual account itself, at least when it comes to latency, would be the Battle.net Cache. Now, I did notice that when I log in to D3 and start a game, my latency also starts a little high around the 400-500ms range and then drops down to low 2 digit green latency within about 10 seconds. My guess is that the latency starts off high because of connection data being cached. If I leave the game and rejoin after the latency is already in the green, the latency starts off low. 1. Can you try the account that normally gets 900+ latency on a different network? If this is truly account related the latency should be high no matter where you log in from. 2. Try deleting the Battle.net Cache file to see if that helps. Check out this support article for steps on how to do that: Deleting the Battle.net Cache Folder (PC) Once that is done, test out the game and let me know what happens. ______________________________________________________ I'm available Monday through Friday from 11AM to 8PM Pacific Time Support Contact Information Got some feedback? | ||
