Rippled textures on protective bubbles(1)Category: Technical SupportSeptember-20-2014 5:53 AM PDT (8 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Hi! I have a strange problem.

About a week ago I was running diablo all fine and dandy with max settings, ripping through rifts and feeling happy.
After about 10 hours of game-play I got a blue screen, after that the problems begun.

Now whenever I try to play the game I get tons of staggering, the details in the graphics are completely different (broken) and the game is just not the same.

I installed the hotfix for the blue screen with error code 0x0000003B, still nothing.

My hardware is GeForce GTX 680, Intel core i3-4130 3.4GHz, 8gb of ram.

I have been trying to change d3 prefs, set my hardware category to 1, (fixed the bubble to round but rough edged shape) but I still get lots of stuttering.

I don't believe my hardware is broken, since everything else is working fine and after all I was running the game on best settings few weeks ago without problem.

Can anyone relate to this and possibly help? Thanks in advance!

Triceps,

As you're now seeing video-related problems, I suggest swapping out the video card to start. This is the quickest way to determine if it's the problem or not. You don't need to use the same model card, any that's supported by the game will do. We want to see if the symptoms change or not.

Triceps,

Changing the card would be the only true way to know if it's the issue or not, but if you can't, you can't. Testing with other programs or games, while often helpful, isn't foolproof in that the game may be exposing a problem these other methods aren't.

In any case, let's start with your system info.

You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here.

Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder.

Triceps,

Nothing really looks out of place there. Could you grab a screenshot or two that show the problem and then upload them to an image hosting site and post the links?
