| So, this is happening. http://imgur.com/82Rt0jq I have a Geforce GT 750M in my laptop, and I'm using the newest 334.89 driver version. For every single other program on that list, I can select the nvidia GPU. For D3, I'm stuck on integrated graphics, and the selector is grayed out. Doesn't matter if the global setting is set for nvidia. D3 still will only use the crappy integrated GPU. Why? What do? | ||

| DanielSV, Are you saying you're able to play the game without using the Battle.net Desktop app because that shouldn't be possible? _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| Kräuterorc, I see that. I'm letting our QA guys know now. This workaround seems like it will work in the meantime. Update - 5/29/2014 For anyone still experiencing this issue, we'd like to have you try something to see if it resolves it. In your Desktop App, without any games running, click on the blue icon in the top left to access the Battle.net menu. Click Settings, then Game Settings. Enable the box for Additional command line arguments below the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls entry. Enter the following: -usepageflip and click the Done button below on the right. Try the game again and see if the issue remains. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos [Post edited one time, last edit by Omrakos at May-29-2014 2:16 PM PDT (9 years ago)] | ||

| PeuPicaseca, I would have to guess you haven't created the shortcut properly. Can you cut and paste what you have on the Target line please? _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| Highres, Check your D3Debug.txt file in the game folder first and verify it's using the integrated video and not the AMD. You're going to look just below where all the resolutions are reported. For example, mine looks like this for using my Nvidia GTX 580. 2014.03.06 12:43:16.829583300 ****** Graphics Device Info ****** 2014.03.06 12:43:16.830084600 nvd3dum.dll NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 \\.\DISPLAY1 2014.03.06 12:43:16.830576300 Driver Version 9.18.13.3158 2014.03.06 12:43:16.831066300 VendorID = 0x10de, DeviceID = 0x1080 _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| Highres, It confirms you're using the Intel integrated video. If Diablo III is already said to be using the faster device, using the above method to run a separate desktop shortcut to the Diablo III.exe file should work for you as well. The issue as I see it is the launcher is not able to be told to use the faster video and therefore doesn't. I've no idea why, that's why I've notified our QA guys and they're looking into it now. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| Highres, When you checked the setting for Diablo III.exe, had you just ran it via the new shortcut or through the launcher? You might try this: Open up the game with the new shortcut getting a character all the way in, and then close it. On the desktop, right click and go to Configure Switchable Graphics. Then select the game. And on the right it should say "Power Saving". Click that box and it should say "High Performance" The game should then run with the AMD card instead of the Intel. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| Bækinz, I'm glad that helped. Remember, we're not sure yet what's going on. Our devs are in talks with Nvidia now. As I said before, it was just a rumor (from users) that it's due to an update to the GeForce Experience product. There's nothing yet that I know of to substantiate that at all. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| Doc, Could you cut and paste what you have on the Target line for the new shortcut? There has to be a typo there somewhere for it to be giving you that message. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| Bloody, I can't go into any details but they've talked to Nvidia and are working with the information provided. I really wouldn't expect any sort of "fix" to be implemented that soon though. The workaround for now will have to do for those using Optimus systems. Although, many users have reported success by using older Nvidia drivers or not letting the GeForce Experience update their game profiles automatically, not requiring the workaround posted at all. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| Hey all! We're investigating this issue, and in the meanwhile I strongly recommend the workarounds posted in this thread that don't have you bypassing the Launcher. Doing so may eventually cause all manner of side-effects, so try a different method if you can. | ||

| ***** Update to this issue ***** It turns out this should only be occurring for users of Windows 8.1 right now. If you're not on 8.1 and are experiencing anything similar, it's not the same issue and you should begin a new thread of your own and post all the details so we can help you to troubleshoot it. Microsoft and Nvidia are in talks about a resolution now. There is unfortunately no workaround to offer at this time nor is there an ETA as to when it might be resolved. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| The issue with Windows 8.1 users not being able to select or use the higher performance Nvidia adapters in an Optimus-equipped laptop is reported to be resolved. The option to use it should be listed now when making a game profile or right clicking the executable for the game. If you've installed new drivers, it's possible they've "broken" the laptop's ability to autoswitch due to proprietary changes made by the manufacturer. In that case, we'd recommend using the latest drivers available from the laptop manufacturer instead. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Tuesday - Friday, 11 am - 8 pm Pacific Time Saturday 10 am - 7 pm Pacific Time Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| In reading through the posts, it seems many of you have got it working while the other half hasn't. I removed the sticky status of the thread due to it being reported internally as "fixed" meaning our QA Team no longer had the issue with the laptops they were using for testing after our devs made a change back in 2.0.4. As this thread has grown too long to manage individual troubleshooting, I'd ask that anyone still having this issue create a separate post of their own. In the thread, include your dxdiag info and a current D3Debug.txt file after editing out your account name (email address). _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Tuesday - Friday, 11 am - 8 pm Pacific Time Saturday 10 am - 7 pm Pacific Time Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||
