Dear blizzard,

This is my 1st official complaint and my last.

Over the year your games has continued to impress me and I have spend a great deal of money buying your products and services. Despite the repetitive game play of Diablo 3 I have to be honest that I liked many aspects of it, I enjoy playing the auction house and I like finding that one rare items that's worth a tone of gold every once in a while.

So when I saw the expansion I was 100% certain about buying it and I was very excited to be quite honest. Despite its cost and the poor reviews from the beta players I was still keen to play it. So I went on to the Real money Auction house and sold over 60 dollars worth of items (billions of gold) and added the money to my battle net account to pre-order the game.

Since I live in Australia it turns out for Diablo 3 and the expansion, Blizzard decided they don't take USD but Australian Dollars only for Australian users. Despite that for all their other games and services they take USD. There was no mentioning of this restriction in their battle net balance help page (https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/battle-net-balance) , there was no mentioning of restrictions on my account until I tired to purchase the expansion. There was actually no way for me to know that I cannot buy the expansion with USD prior to adding my money into the account.

And Here is what really made me mad, since I already own every blizzard product they made since 2004, I have nothing to spend the credits on. I basically have over 60 dollars of dead credits on my account that I cannot use. I've contacted blizzard numerous times to refund my credit or exchange it into Australian dollars. But the customer support just refuses, and basically telling me too bad I just lost my money.

Hey there!

I'm really sorry for any confusion there might have been, but it looks like it was your decision to sell these items for USD and it was your decision to have these funds deposited into your Battle.net Balance instead of cashing the money out to a location like PayPal. You can actually change your auction house settings in Diablo 3 to sell things for AUD but since these items were sold for USD there is nothing we can do to change that.

To change this setting, login to Diablo 3 and open the game menu.
- Click on Options
- Click on the Account button on the left side
- Select the Australian Dollars from the Real Money Auction House Currency dropdown
- Hit the Apply button

We're unable to cash those credits out to you since you opted to have them deposited into your Battle.net Balance when you created the auction.

You can read more about the regional restrictions of the Real Money Auction House here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/diablo-iii-auction-house-regional-information

I'm very sorry for any confusion there might have been about this though

In fact the link the GM posted said NOTHING about purchase restrictions with my battle net credits. What disgusted me the most is that the GM actually has the audacity to suggest that it was my fault for putting my money into my battle net account with the intention to make purchases (see bold texts above). This is just completely disgusting and unacceptable.

I am so disappointed with this company I cannot believe how terrible you treat your customer.

Yours Sincerely,
Pry

Hi all,

MissCheetah is very much correct in her description of the Battle.net Balance. With that said, there are going to be situations like this which arise whereby there may be no immediate and clear resolution. Being that we are unable to transfer the funds or use those funds from the US for a purchase that is being initiated from another country the issue gets murky, and generally what winds up happening is someone walks away (as OP has) feeling resigned to the issue.

We don't want that. But we also have to abide by the financial restrictions which are imposed by the legalities here. @ Pry, I am going to reach out to you and offer further clarification, and discuss possible other options.

As this is a CS issue posted in general, I will be locking the thread up and do encourage others with any similar such issues to address our support directly through the CS portal found here.
