| Good day, all. I contacted the blizzard forum email regarding a temp ban I've just been freed from, and the content of said email could be described as "shots fired". After numerous insults to make a point, I even stated a permanent ban wouldn't be so bad :) Anywho, what's the age required to buy diablo? Rated M, 17+? Okay. So, can anyone here who is that appropriate age think of what it is you call someone - to point out, without negative intent - that they are being slightly obnoxious for going out of their way to correct all of your grammar errors? I say think it, because if you say it like I did, you'll get a ban for obscene language. While reading a post of mine in another topic, I noticed I had used a double negative beautifully that would feel less effective if worded "correctly". So, I posed a vague challenge to any grammar-blank of the internet to give me the correct version of my statement without taking away from how great it sounded. And I got a ban :P It wasn't directed at anyone and this game is supposed to be 17+, but whatever. Maybe blizzard wants to deny WW2 and the holocaust took place. It's not my place to judge, it's their forum. Maybe a bot picked up on that particular word or the forum auto banned me for use of the word, but oh help us all if it was a forum moderator. This is the internet and that very word grammar-1942german is of the internet. Internet literacy should be a requirement to be a forum mod :) Please learn context, it's the greatest part of this language that we're all speaking. So, just in case the email reaches someone at support was already having a bad day and that individual decides to ban me, I'd like to give a sour farewell to this company. I probably won't be an active member anymore either way, seeing what's become of a company I wasn't all that loyal to in the first place. Long live diablo 2. Freedom of speech > trash that is Diablo3, go ahead and purge this mistake from my account. | ||

| Hey Tomnn, Contacting forums@blizzard.com was indeed the best course of action. If you'd like to inquire about or otherwise petition a received penalty, that inbox is there for any and all who are interested. It's monitored by our moderation staff on the daily. That said, while I appreciate your debate (and that you've remained civil throughout), it's one that's best had with our moderation staff. I can assure you that they will review your case and your points of contention; however, I cannot guarantee a response. In the meantime, I think it's important to note that receiving a forum penalty isn't personal. It's not a comment on you as an individual or a player, it just means that a post you've made violated our Code of Conduct in some way. In this particular situation, going off your description alone, I could see one of many possible violations: http://us.battle.net/en/community/conduct#language http://us.battle.net/en/community/conduct#national http://us.battle.net/en/community/conduct#harassment That's, of course, sticking to the letter of the law. In the future, it may just be a good idea to avoid using that particular colloquialism, particularly since it is caught by our filters. :) Either way, good luck and I hope to see you continue posting! | ||
