| Back in 2012 whilst I was levelling my first character I vowed to try HC once my main got to paragon 100. That came and went, and subsequently I jumped onto the HC train and didn't look back. Hardcore made the game interesting and fun again. Through it, I made some outstanding in-game friends that I still play with today. The feeling of helping each other out, and getting through tough times with friends/clan members can be so worthwhile. So what to do when you get bored of playing your main SC character? You could either try another class, or try HC. Either with your main again (as you'll generally have more understanding of the class) or new one if you're feeling particularly brave :) Playing hardcore can breathe new life into the game - it did at least for me and a good deal of my friends, so if you get bored...give it a try...you just might like it. It's not all plain-sailing, I'll admit that, disconnects can (and do) happen, I lost my first WD (at paragon 67) defending a friend of mine in an ubers fight. That character is still alive today. My second WD (at paragon 84) died to a D/C. As long as you except that your character will die at some point, you can get over it. The game feels more immersive, and the excitement you get when you're screen goes red, is second to none. Just remember...the closer you are to death, the more alive you feel. Hardcore is certainly not for everyone, but you won't know for sure until you have tried it :-) The hc communities are full of friendly people. This is very true :-) | ||

Watch out for those rift openers who lure people into traps. Yup, just like in any gaming community, you can be unlucky to meet "bad apples". :-( There are a number of really solid as well as friendly HC communities that are more than worth joining, even if just to avoid this kind of thing from happening. But I am perfectly aware that there are some who prefer playing with random people in public games, so here is a good guide by by Xanth on how to avoid those traps. | ||
