| So I just built a new computer within the past few days and it seems to be working just fine until I get on d3 (I've also tried other games with no problems). It doesn't matter if i'm playing or just sitting idle at the screen after logging in, eventually (5-20 minutes ) my screen goes black. When this happens my computer stays on with all the fans running like normal and I can't do anything and have to restart the computer. I know its not the monitor or the cable to the monitor, all my temps are good (CPU>40, GPU>50, MOBO>40, SSD>30 (ºC)). I was thinking it was the drivers but everything should be up to date, maybe there is an older version that would work better? Something else causing this? Any help would be appreciated. | Behemoth, Can you post your D3Debug.txt file? It's located in the main Diablo III game folder. Edit out your account name first though as it may appear in a few places in the file. Is there a reason you're not using your monitor's native resolution of 1920 x 1080 on the desktop? | Behemoth, Try setting the game to windowed mode instead of fullscreen. If you can't do it in-game, with the game closed, you can edit the D3prefs file and then restart it. Change DisplayModeWindowMode "0" to DisplayModeWindowMode "1" Also, in looking at the User Guide for your TV, you'd want to be using the HDMI 2 input. | Behemoth, This is one of the reasons we don't actually support using a TV as a computer monitor. There are too many variables that go beyond the normal scope of support we can offer. They can nearly always be made to work, but I like to emphasize that you follow the manufacturer's steps for doing so. Using the HDMI 2 input is one of those steps they specifically call out for connecting your model TV to a PC which is why I mentioned it. Using a VGA cable instead of HDMI may also prove helpful, but you'll have to run a separate audio cable if you're using the TV's speakers To really determine if the TV is the problem, connect a regular desktop monitor instead and see if the same problem occurs. when my desktop displayed the black screen I unplugged the HDMI cord from my GPU on the desktop and plugged it into my laptop and the picture came up. | Behemoth, You're right, I misread your explanation. In that case, the video card itself or the drivers may be failing. In the case of it being drivers, you'd normally see a message to the effect that they have stopped responding. They usually recover shortly thereafter but the app (game) that was in use may have failed by then. If you have another video card you can use, I'd try swapping it.
