| As a lot of you may know, a lot of people who used to play Diablo II like the idea of permanency and the fact that there is incentive to "re-level" a character of a class you've already leveled, if only because you want to go for a new build What if there was a possibility, in Diablo III, to VOLUNTARILY (on a completely free basis) lock your skills in permanently in exchange for a cosmetic change indicating that you renounced the ability to "customize" yourself and are committed to the build you currently have, regardless of what happens. Such a cosmetic change would obviously be up to discussion, but it could from anything from an Aura (think back on the D2 Set Armor ones) to a very distinct banner, or maybe a portrait modification or special skill colors/animations (e.g: Black acid for Witch Doctor, Whatever the case may be, such cosmetic symbols (or gameplay specificities) might appeal to a part of the playerbase who wants their builds to be meaningful. Plus, if there truly is going to be more customization for characters based on given Legendaries and the utility they bring, the sense of permanence to a character's build gives said character a personality. This Demon Hunter is my "Spike Trapper". That one is my "Multi-Shot" DH. And the gear you find goes to whichever of them it fits most. I don't know if that's something people would like to see; I know I would personally love to have such a feature in the game as I used to like the D2 model of "permanent" skills to an extent, and I think going from the current "commitment-less" model of D3 to a "voluntary commitment" system is a lot easier than from the rigid "total commitment" of D2 to the "limited respecializations" one. Even if the rewards are merely cosmetic, I think this would appeal to a portion of the playerbase, apart of which I am. Any thoughts? | ||

| I read a reply that raises a good question for anyone interested in this thread. Would you use a feature that allowed you to voluntarily lock your character's skills if it supported a cosmetic reward for doing so? Why or why not? | ||
