| I level a demon hunter at the moment. After i zone to ruins of corvus the screen goes black.. If i alt + esc to windows and then enter the game again i get a glimpse of the image before it goes black. Sound is fine and all the buttons work. I hear myself shooting and setting up traps etc. If i zone back to passage of corvus and then alt + esc and goes back into the game everything works as normal until i zone to ruins of corvus again. Any suggestions? Thanks! PS: This happens both in the campaign and in the adventure mode. | ||

| J0lle, Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool: Click on Start Click on Run Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field) Hit Enter or OK Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here. Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 11 am - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| J0lle, I'm not really seeing anything there that I could point at that would be related to what you're seeing. I would recommend though that you lower the number of sound channels to 32. ChannelsToUse "128" We used to see reports of crashing when a larger number of channels were enabled so to be safe, I'd do that at least for now. Your D3Debug.txt file might help. Before posting it, edit out any references to your Battle.net account name or BattleTag. One thing I'd be curious to know is if you were to change the Hardware Class in your D3Prefs.txt file from 6 to 1 or 2, does it still blank the screen when going to the Ruins of Corvus? The file needs to be edited when the game is closed. Test the game afterwards. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 11 am - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| J0lle, You can split up the file into more than one post if necessary. Have you run the Scan and Repair utility for Diablo III yet in the Desktop App? _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 11 am - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| J0lle, You wouldn't see it say anything when it runs. If it needs to download anything it finds is corrupted, it will take a little longer to run but that's about it. I don't see any error conditions anywhere in the file. I really only have two suggestions at this point. The first is reverting to a slightly older Nvidia video driver. (334.89) http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/73218/en-us Secondly if the drivers don't help is to re-install the game. There may still be a problem with the data for the area you're going to that the scan and repair didn't detect. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 11 am - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| J0lle, D3DERR_DEVICELOST - as I recall, this is just reporting that you alt-tabbed. Do you happen to have another video card you could try using instead of the GTX 680? _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 11 am - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| J0lle, From a troubleshooting standpoint, we need to eliminate the video card as a possible cause and the only way to do that for sure is to swap it out with something else. I know it's not convenient but it's often necessary when you've exhausted all the other possibilities. The game has no mechanism for changing refresh rates on the fly and it only ever uses the main primary monitor as defined by Windows. As the problem occurs in one specific location and we've eliminated a corrupted game file by reinstalling already, that only leaves the video card being unable to handle something going on in that area. We've also eliminated the drivers as causing it as we've changed them already. Now it's time to eliminate the video card. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 11 am - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||
