AMD HD 6470 not supported :((1)Category: Technical SupportApril-4-2014 12:08 PM PDT (9 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Just found out that my high performance graphics card AMD HD 6470 is not included in the supported list of cards. This is sad as since release i have been playing on low performance.

Just out of curiosity could i ask why is it not included in the supported card list???

kunFuPolar3D,

The list isn't all-inclusive. Many supported cards aren't on the list simply because the list would be unmanageable if we tried to list them all. What's important to check is the unsupported list.

Your AMD HD 6470 or rather AMD HD 6470m I assume is not there so it's in fact supported.

It's also not exactly a high performance card as you can see in this performance benchmark comparison chart.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Radeon+HD+6470M

If you're having a problem installing or playing the game, it ma be a mater of the drivers be too old.

Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here.

kunFuPolar3D,

If you aren't seeing any messages about the card or drivers being unsupported or outdated, I'd leave them alone for now. A performance change with the release of ROS could be due to your D3prefs.txt file being reset. If you had previously made a change to the Hardware Class value to compensate for a lower-performing card, you'd want to go back in and make that change again as it would now be back to the default setting.

You'd also want to verify you have the game setup to use the faster card and not the integrated Intel HD.

If you check your D3Debug.txt file (located in the main Diablo III game folder), look for the section just after you see a bunch of resolutions listed and in between

****** Graphics Device Info ******

and

****** Graphics Device Caps ******

You should see there which graphics card is being used
