[Guide] Fastest & Most Efficient Farming Build for Monk(1)Category: MonkMarch-30-2014 2:09 AM PDT (9 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Dear all,

I have recently been trying to speed farm legendaries and caches on normal and torment difficulties (up to torment 2). The best way to farm as you would all know is to speed run and kill things in mere split seconds so after trying a few builds, here is something epic I found for monk in RoS. I would humbly advice you to watch the video as it explains everything you need to know and also shows you how fast you can clear the map with this build, but if you prefer to read the info instead, here is how everything works:

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qvbRIKmB1A&list=UUi4lw72qHjNwznCCD6RLiIQ

1000 sided strike build:
This build relies on dealing damage from epiphany - inner fire rune which procs amazingly often when combined with tempest rushing. So the inner workings of this build relies on reducing the cool down of epiphany as much as possible. The other aspect of the build relies of your ability to tempest rush indefinitely without losing any spirit, so using a 2 hander is advised, especially when you are getting used to the build. Fire storm is the rune for sweeping wind that lets you kill fast when your epiphany is on cool down so this is another important skill of the build, especially when this allows build to be a fire damage build.

Build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#TcPSXk!ZbSV!YZcbbY

Your passives and paragon points are spent in a way to reduce your cool downs and increase damage whilst moving. beacon of Ytar combined with 10% cool down reduction from paragon and a diamond in your helm gives you a great start with the build, even if you have incompatible starting gear

Gear set:
Any 2 hander will let you use this build, for more dps try to roll a socket. As far as numbers are concerned, 400k dps with 4 mil toughness, 700 all res, 1.45 attacks per seconds, 43% crit chance, 36% cool down reduction, one can clear torment 2 with ease especially when you consider the fact that monk is always moving and therefore dodges all the plague, molten, frozen and other affixes from monsters.

Here is my armoury: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/HolyHermit-2407/career

Minimum items needed for the build are: a 2 handed weapon with a socket, fire damage bonus on bracers, low attack speed (less than 1.7,lower the better) , maximum movement speed, cool down reduction coming from shoulders (every little bit helps)

The way of intercepting fist:
To play with the ultimate version of this build, look for flow of eternity and you can replace your FoT with SSS sustained attack and have a cool down to the skill reduced to a MERE 6 SECONDS !!!. When your epiphany runs out, you can keep spamming this skill (remember it has ~1 to 2 seconds of cast time during which you are invincible) and deal 5477% weapon damage every 6 seconds, so clearing high torments becomes easy.

For Torment 6:
I have a dream of playing torment 6 with this build and here are the items I think I need to get there:

Warezchain armguards with bonus fire damage
Hexing pants of Mr Yan
Helm+Chest+Belt from Inna's set
2 set bonus from Monkey king set
Royal ring of Grandeur
Flow of Eternity with a socket
Cindercoat
Gloves of worship (for empowered shrine)

With off sheet damage you get from these items and the fact that you can spam SSS every 6 seconds, even the highest torment is possible with this build, or at least it's something I like to be true.

I hope I was able to explain the build in detail; I am sure I have missed an item or two that can help with this build so please leave your feedback and I would be sure to get back to you.

Warm regards,
Holy Hermit
