Hotfixes Roll Out on PC and Console

Carnevil is working again, and no more monsters stuck at 1HP

Diablo III Patch 2.4.0 Hotfixes
A round of Patch 2.4 hotfixes have rolled out to both the Diablo III Battle.net servers, and for players on the PS4 and Xbox One Ultimate Evil Edition. The hotfixes take care of a number of bugs, including the Witch Doctor Voodoo Mask Carnevil not functioning, and certain situations where monsters could get stuck at 1 hit point and become unkillable.

Patch 2.4.0 PC/Mac Hotfixes
The latest round of hotfixes also includes a number of fixes that were initially listed last week, but only recently went live.
The following hotfixes have been applied today, 1-20. Note that some of these were previously listed as upcoming hotfixes; they have now been pushed live.

General

  • Fixed a crash that would occur when the Skeleton King attempts to continue to whirlwind after he has been defeated (1/20)
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent some players from logging in (1/20)

Wizard

  • Black Hole

    • Fixed an issue where enemies affected by both Black Hole - Event Horizon and Taunt would remain at 1 hit point and be unable to be killed (1/20)

Witch Doctor

  • Fetish Army

    • Fixed an issue where fetishes could stop casting Poison Dart while using the Carnevil Legendary Voodoo Mask (1/20)

Adventure Mode

  • Set Dungeons

  • Fixed an issue where the game could crash when a Set Dungeon begins, but there is not a valid portal saved (1/20)
  • Fixed an issue where taking fatal damage in a Set Dungeon could cause the Set Dungeon to be empty the next time it was entered (1/20)

Patch 2.4.0 Console Hotfixes
The console Diablo III servers also received some updates, taking care of bugs and issues there. The Witch Doctor Zombie Dogs on the console now match the power and number of the PC version, as previously discussed.
Several hotfixes have been deployed to the Ultimate Evil Edition on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As we know some of you have been eagerly awaiting this news, we've consolidated this news in one place for your convenience.

These hotfixes should not require you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented while others may require restarting the game to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch. Also note that changes to certain abilities will not be reflected in its tooltip until a patch is issued.

Last updated January 20.

  • Zombie Dogs should now spawn the proper number of pets and matches in line with PC functionality
  • Dungeon of Firebird's Finery: Fixed an issue where completing the objective to set 20 enemies on fire 6 times would prevent the objective to hit enemies with the Revive Meteor from tracking
  • Dungeon of Roland's Legacy: Fixed an issue where players would not always be properly be prompted with the completion window if they kill all monsters before the time expires
  • Fixed an issue where Carnevil would impact non-Witch Doctor pets summoned by items
  • Fixed an issue where fetishes could stop casting Poison Dart while using the Carnevil Legendary Voodoo Mask
  • Fixed an issue where taking fatal damage in a Set Dungeon could cause the Set Dungeon to be empty the next time it was entered

Console Patch Coming
The Quality Assurance team has been gathering a lot of feedback, from PS4 and Xbox One console players with game performance issues since patch 2.4 was released. The good news is that a patch is being worked on to fix the issues, and will soon be released for those consoles.
We are testing a fix for the performance issues for both the PS4 and Xbox One. We’re currently performing our last rounds of quality assurance, and we’re very encouraged by our tests thus far. We’re aiming to have a patch available soon for both PS4 and Xbox One players.

A huge thanks is owed to everyone who submitted feedback and videos to help us isolate the cause and push toward a resolution.

Demon Hunter Shadow's Mantle Set Issues
The Demon Hunter class set The Shadow's Mantle was expanded and given new set bonuses in patch 2.4. Nevalistis responded to feedback about two issues with that set. From the report of the first issue:
Impale - Grievous Wounds applies an extra 330% CHD on crit, but when this rune is used with Shadow's 6 Piece bonus it does not apply the extra CHD. The bonus is still active while using 2 or 4 pieces but becomes inactive with 6.
While that interaction is working as intended, the other item issue is a bug that is being looked into.
Grievous Wounds not affecting the 6-piece bonus of Shadow's Mantle is not a bug. In fact, none of the damage bonuses from runes for Impale affect the 6-piece bonus. This is to preserve diversity rather than leave one rune as the obvious, mathematically correct choice. Players shouldn't feel punished because of their set bonus if they'd rather use another rune or element.

On the flip side, the other issue you mention with Convention of Elements does appear to be a bug. The 6-piece bonus of Shadow's Mantle is intended to deal the elemental type of whatever Impale rune is selected, thereby benefitting from Convention of Elements when the appropriate element is active. We've put in a report for this and will be investigating it.

Lightning Talk: Building Sescheron
Another developer Lightning Talk was released recently, providing a recording of the talks given by the Diablo III team at BlizzCon 2015. This is a talk by senior game designer Joe Shely, a developer who hasn't been seen as much as many on the team. Mr. Shely really loves yetis, and he talks about them and many other aspects of building the Ruins of Sescheron. All of the Diablo III Lightning Talks are now listed in a YouTube playlist, so you can easily watch them as more videos are released!
