Season 3 Will Last At Least 4 Months

Season 3 starts on Friday, and will have a longer duration than Season 2

Diablo III Season 3
Diablo III Season 3 is nearly here! The new Season starts Friday evening at 6PM PDT in North America, 6PM CEST in Europe, and 6PM KST in Asia. The latest Blizzard Blues bring word that Season 3 will have a duration of at least 4 months. There is also discussion of some Barbarian bracers that were pulled from Patch 2.2 at the last minute, and info on a small upcoming patch. Here are the latest details!

Season 3 Duration Over 4 Months
The first two Diablo III Seasons had widely different lengths. Developer Wyatt Cheng took to the forums to talk about the expectations for Season 3. It will last at least 4 months, although the developers do not want Seasons running as long as the 5+ months duration of Season 1.
Great to see all the reasons people enjoy Seasons! I totally agree that it’s about the journey, not the destination, and seasons allow us to enjoy the journey again. I also enjoy seasons for the fresh start and playing with all my friends again. I love that feeling of progressing from rare items to assorted legendary items to finishing a 6-piece set.

While we’re on the topic of Seasons, I want to share some information regarding Season length. We generally feel that Season 1 was on the long side, and that Season 2 was on the short side. We want to strike a balance between having enough points in time when we can all commence this journey together, but also allow enough time for characters to mature. Expect Season 3 to be at least 4 months long. While the exact end date is not yet known, we plan on once again giving 2 weeks’ notice before Season 3 ends.

Mortick's Brace Removed from Patch 2.2.0
One of the new Legendary items on the patch 2.2.0 PTR was a Barbarian set of bracers named Mortick's Brace. It had the Legendary power:
Wrath of the Berserker gains the effect of every rune.
This proved too powerful for the item, so the bracers were pulled from the patch at the last minute before it went live. The bracers might return in a future patch, but for now they are not available.

One interesting detail is that the item was still included in the console Xbox One and PlayStation 4 edition of patch 2.2.0. A quick hotfix for those platforms stopped the item from dropping.

Otherwise I'm wondering how we on console can get it but not PC players?

We weren't totally happy with the final iteration of Mortick's Brace on the PTR, so we decided to hold off on releasing it with patch 2.2.0. While the item was successfully removed from the patch for PC, it was not removed from the patch for PlayStation 4 or XBox One. This was not intended.

To correct this, we recently issued a hotfix for PS4 and XB1 to disable Mortick's Brace from dropping. This hotfix is now live for both platforms in all regions. (Please note that the hotfix will not remove any existing Mortick's Braces from players' inventories; it will only prevent new versions of the item from dropping.) We may revisit this item in a later patch.

We apologize for any confusion, and thank everyone for their reports.

Developer John Yang discussed the item removal, and that the developers would have liked to have made an adjustment to the power, such as providing just one Wrath of the Berserker rune instead of all of them. Unfortunately, there wasn't time to do that before the patch went live.

Minor Patch Coming With Fixes
Patch 2.2.0 added a new screen at the end of Greater Rifts, which looks interesting but can't be easily closed with keyboard commands. There will be a minor patch in the near future, potentially Diablo III patch 2.2.1, to deal with issues like this. There have been other PC client issues since patch 2.2.0 arrived, that may be addressed in that type of small client patch. The most prominent is a Diablo III PC client stutter or freeze that happens in certain PC systems, discussed in the Battle.net technical support forums and at reddit. Hopefully such issues can be thoroughly tested and fixed by the next patch.

Wacom Tablet Issue for Mac Client
An issue has shown up in the latest patch for Mac players of Diablo III, who use a Wacom tablet. In Fullscreen mode this can generate multiple cursors in the game. Playing in Windowed or Windowed Fullscreen mode will take care of the issue, for now.
[Update (12/3/15)]: Long-time-coming update, this has been fixed in Patch 2.4. Test it out on the PTR and let us know how it goes in the PTR Bug Report Forum!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are aware of an issue affecting Mac players who use the Wacom Tablet Peripheral while in-game. The description of the issue appears to be that you will have duplicate cursors while moving. Our Quality Assurance team has entered a bug for the issue and are currently reviewing potential resolutions.

As a workaround, this issue only presents itself in Fullscreen. Setting your resolution to Windowed or Windowed Fullscreen mode will resolve the issue.

    1. Press Esc to bring up the Game Menu.
    2. Click Options.
    3. Select Windowed or Windowed (Fullscreen) from the Display dropdown.
    4. Select Apply or Accept to commit the changes.

Please note that the only official supported peripherals for Diablo III on Mac are Keyboard and Mouse, which may delay or prevent a future resolution. We'll provide an update as soon as we know additional information. Thank you!
