'Reaper of Souls' Sales Strong on PC and Console
Both editions of the game hit top 5 sales on charts around the globe
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is selling strongly on both the PC and consoles around the world. The PC/Mac expansion is back up to #2 on the UK PC game charts, and the Ultimate Evil Edition for consoles is also at #2 on the overall chart across all platforms. For the initial week of the UEE release, it topped the UK sales charts for all formats - the first time any Diablo game reached #1! Here is a look at how the latest Diablo III titles are selling across the globe.
- Ultimate Evil Edition in the UK - In the first week of release, the UEE topped the sales charts for all games in the UK, the first time that any Diablo title had reached the top. The launch week UK sales across all the consoles favored the PlayStation consoles overall: 47% on PS4, 32% on Xbox One, 13% on Xbox 360 and 8% on PS3. For the second week of release, the UEE slipped to #2 on the overall UK sales charts.
- Reaper of Souls in UK - The expansion on the PC has also been selling well in the UK. With the excitement over patch 2.1 generating renewed interest, sales climbed back up and the PC expansion reached #2 on the full price PC sales chart.
- Ultimate Evil Edition in Japan - As previously reported, Square-Enix localized the UEE for just the PlayStation consoles in Japan. It sold moderately well for the first week of release in Japan, with the PS4 version at #4 and the PS3 version at #5 on the Japanese sales charts.
- Sales at Amazon.com - The sales of the new Diablo III titles have tapered off at Amazon, as there are not currently large discounts for them. The Ultimate Evil Edition is still placing in the top 20 for all four consoles. Here is the current sales ranking for the console title on each platform:
Blizzard-Activision last reported that the combined Diablo III titles had sold
over 20 million copies, as of June 30, 2014. With the strong sales for both the console and PC editions of
Reaper of Souls, that sales number should be solidly higher in the next quarterly report!
