Undocumented Changes and Bugs in Patch 2.0.6

The patch brought extra changes, including big fixes to broken achievements

Diablo III Patch 2.0.6
Diablo III Patch 2.0.6 included a lot of little changes that didn't make the patch notes. As with every patch, there are also new bugs and issues to deal with. The latest Blizzard Blues posts document these issues, as well as big fixes to achievements that came with the patch.

Undocumented Changes in Patch 2.0.6
For the official documentation be sure to read the Diablo III Patch 2.0.6 Patch Notes and Hotfixes thoroughly, as the patch notes were extended in the final published list, compared to the original notes from the client. Beyond those, there are always extra changes in each patch that don't make the patch notes. Here are some of the undocumented changes in the patch, as detailed by a lengthy thread at reddit.
  • Blood Shards drop now in one single stack, instead of multiple groups.
  • The bug that greatly increased the damage from Locust Swarm - Diseased Swarm was fixed.
  • The Pool of Reflection bug where unlimited bonus exp was available after around Paragon Level 515, is now capped correctly to your level.
  • The gate in New Tristram is no longer a door but a teleport, fixed to prevent monsters coming through.
  • You can now make a hardcore private game public, without exiting the game.

Achievement Bugs Fixed
There have been long-standing bugs with achievements that just refused to show up as complete, even when all the requirements had been done. A couple months back a Blizzard post stated that an overhauled achievements system was on the way for patch 2.1, to deal with these issues. That overhaul was done even sooner, and was put into patch 2.0.6! Many old achievements that weren't completing should fix themselves, and the system is put into place to make it easier to take care of any remaining problems.
Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to pop in here and let you all know that we deployed an update to our back end services today that we believe should “heal” a fair amount of the issues that some of you in this thread have been reporting with achievements that have become stuck or “broken” since the game was released.

Without going too deep into the technical details, basically what we did was implement a system that looks at your account upon login to try and identify any achievements for which you have fulfilled all the criteria, but have not been awarded the actual achievement. If the system identifies a broken achievement, the server will attempt to immediately “heal” your broken achievement and grant it to you. I say “try” because each server will only attempt to run a certain number of instances of this healing operation at one time. What this means is it may take several logins to heal any achievements that are broken on your account in this way. This is expected behavior, and just because you haven’t seen any changes to your achievements just yet, doesn’t mean that the fix did not work for you at all.

I know that many of you have been waiting for this for a long time, but it is somewhat likely that this fix may not resolve every single achievement issue that every player has. This particular fix is specifically targeted at achievements with tracked criteria (basically this means requirements that were tracked with checkboxes). Also as I said above, this fix may not take effect for everyone immediately. What this means is that we are going to need to let the dust settle over the next few days to see what other types of issues remain.

So, where do we go from here? At this point, we encourage you to simply play as you normally would for the next several days and see what happens with your achievements. If you are still experiencing erroneous behavior or are missing a particular achievement that you believe is broken, we encourage you to reply to this thread and let us know about it. Include detailed information if you can such as the full achievement name, when you earned it, and what the exact problem with it is with as thorough a description as possible. Steps are good too, if you have them!

I’ll be watching this thread very closely, and will likely be popping in here again in the days and weeks to come. Thank you all again for your patience and all of your reports about this.

Hotfix for Monk Set Bonus
The Monk class set Raiment of a Thousand Storms includes items like the Monk set helm Mask of the Searing Sky, and the set bonuses were just buffed in patch 2.0.6. A bug cropped up where that 6-piece set bonus did not benefit from Lightning damage item boosts. As noted by Grimiku, that is being taken care of with a hotfix.
Right now the Raiment of a Thousand Storms 6 piece set bonus does not benefit from bonus Lightning damage, but we're planning on implementing a hotfix which will change that. For now, we're not sure when this hotfix will be implemented, but we'll be sure to update the Patch 2.0.6 Hotfix thread when we do.

Class Buffs Coming in Patch 2.1
An informative post by Nevalistis addressed the issue of the power of all the classes. Right now the Witch Doctor can be easily a very powerful class, and the developers are looking forward to making changes to help boost other classes in Patch 2.1.
We've seen a ton of feedback lately about the relative power levels between classes, and it seems a good time to explain a bit behind our philosophy of where we'd like to see each class go from here.

The Witch Doctor is currently very strong. That is awesome, and we're happy to hear Witch Doctor players are having a blast with their characters and that players who have never considered playing the Witch Doctor before are giving it a whirl.

The Witch Doctor's current level of power comes largely from the powerful items they have available. Ideally, we'd like all classes to have fun and powerful item builds and that means taking a look at what equipment is available. This is something we’re actively pursuing, and while some of the other classes are almost there, others have some additional room for growth. We've already mentioned some of the upcoming Monk set changes we have on the way, but they aren't the only class we’re keeping a watchful eye on. Ultimately, we'd like to strive for a place where each class has an equal crack at end game success, especially with Seasons and Tiered Rifts on the near horizon. It’s likely each class will accomplish that in different ways, because they are inherently so different from one another, and that’s okay!

Allow me to caveat the above with the fact we won't get there overnight. This is an overarching development goal, and a continuing journey rather than a destination. Our work is never truly done, especially because we have every intention of continuing to make awesome items. On our way through this ongoing process, we appreciate your feedback.

Legendary Crafting Materials Still Dropping
In patch 2.0.6, Legendary crafting materials are no longer used, and can be sold off. They were not supposed to drop any more, but some of them have still been dropping. That will be fixed up soon.
Posted by: capth4u

Why are they dropping if we no longer need?

There is currently a bug that is causing some Legendary crafting materials to continue to drop after the patch. We’re still looking into the specifics of the bug, and don't have a current estimate to share on when this will be fixed (or how: via hotfix or patch). In the meantime, thanks for your reports!

Delays in Item Drops
Some Diablo III players run into an issue where the drops in Nephalem Rifts can take a little while to show up. That is currently being investigated, but is not nailed down yet.
It is still under investigation Evilbringer, but not something we've been able to replicate internally as of yet. We had all the data we needed, which is why the sticky was dropped and as it hasn't been verified, we can't technically classify it as a 'known issue' at this point, but we are still looking into it.

Optimus Laptops Not Using GPU
In the technical support forum, the Quality Assurance team has been gathering information from laptop owners with a Nvidia Optimus graphics card. There is an issue with some of those laptops not using the card, so Diablo III does not run correctly. The Blizzard team is working with Nvidia to get cards to test the issue, so they can work on fixing it.
I wanted to provide a quick update of where we currently stand on this issue.

Our engineers are working with both Nvidia and Razer right now, to obtain 800M series hardware that reproduces the problem in-house. We've a late model laptop from Razer currently that's able to switch properly when using the -launch option which is why we've been trying to get specifics from those of you it's not working for. Our other machines are a bit older and aren't having the problem at all. It's a tough issue to get a handle on when you can't reproduce it yourself so that's where we're concentrated right now.

Fuad's Journal Not Dropping
The item Fuad's Journal is not currently dropping, which prevents the meta-achievement Judge of Character from completing. This is scheduled to be fixed in the upcoming patch 2.1.0.
Patch 2.0.6 was mostly for balance changes and while it had a few bug fixes, this particular fix did not make it in. The good news, however, is that we do have a fix in place for this coming in our next major content update, patch 2.1.0! I obviously can't make any promises as when specifically that update will arrive, but I can say that we are currently hard at work on the new content for that patch, and that we are doing our very best to get it out the door as soon as possible.

Thanks a ton for all of the reports about this, and we really appreciate your patience regarding this issue. Thank you!

Edit: In the meantime, I also went ahead and added this issue to our known issues list.

Patch 2.0.6 Known Issues List
Here is the current list of known issues by the Quality Assurance team, including that journal issue.
Hello everyone, and welcome to Patch 2.4.1! Below you will find the Known Issues list for our 2.4.1 patch. Please do not report bugs that you see on this list, as we already know about them, and help out other players reporting bugs by referring them to this list.

As a reminder, this list will not list every bug that is active in the 2.4.1 patch. What it is listed here are a select few issues -- chosen due to visibility and impact -- that are active and confirmed as bugs by Quality Assurance with verifiable steps and (in most cases) an expected fix. Just because a bug is not on this list does not mean we don't know about it! In addition, potential exploits and the like will never be listed here.

Please note that documented bugs may not always be fixed in the order in which they were reported. In some cases, we may not have a timeline for a when a bug will be fixed and some bugs may not be able to be fixed at all. If we are able to verify that a documented bug cannot be fixed, it will be removed from this list.

Thank you for your continued reports, and enjoy Diablo III!!!
