Hotfixes Boost Legendary and Set Item Acquisition

More Legendary drops, and from Blood Shard purchases

Diablo III Reaper of Souls - Hotfixes
Most hotfixes for Diablo III include small bug fixes, or the occasional nerf. The latest set of hotfixes for patch 2.0.3 is instead a big boost in the amount of Legendaries that players can get! The drop rates have been raised for Legendary and Set items, and the chance increased of a Legendary item showing up when gambling for items with Blood Shards. The latest Blizzard Blues posts contain explanations for those changes, and upcoming fixes to keep specific items from dropping too much. Read on for all the details!

Patch 2.0.3 Hotfixes
The latest hotfixes follow another big set of changes a few days ago, that had a nerf for the Monk passive Unity. These latest hotfixes are all about giving buffs -- specifically, increasing the drop rates for Legendary and Set items! Those powerful items are now dropping far more in all Torment difficulties. Legendary items also have a higher chance of rolling from the Blood Shard gambling in the Reaper of Souls Expansion. Here are the latest hotfixes, that have already gone live or will be added soon.
[UPCOMING HOTFIXES]
  • Drop rates for Mighty Belts and Quivers have been lowered to match other class-specific items.
  • Belial will now correctly drop loot when killed in Adventure Mode.

[LIVE HOTFIXES]

Items
  • The chance for a player to earn a Legendary item from Kadala has been significantly increased.
  • The drop rate for Legendary items in Torment 1-6 has been increased.
  • Trade timers should now no longer appear on vendor-sold items.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing BoA items to sometimes become unbound whenever a player zoned into a new area.

Legendary Drop Hotfix
Lylirra had a few posts about why the Legendary item drops were increased. The developers want to make sure players get the rewards that are appropriate, when slaughtering monsters and completing Bounties and Rifts. Also, increasing the drop rates specifically in the Torment difficulties will no doubt encourage players to aim for those higher difficulties, when their characters have the gear to handle them.
Hey everyone,

As a quick heads up, we have two buffs to Legendary item drop rates coming down the pipeline.

  • First change: We're increasing the drop rate for Legendary items (this includes Set items) in Torment 1-6.

  • Second change: We're significantly increasing the chance for an item purchased from Kadala to be a Legendary.

Both of these hotfixes are somewhat proactive, but are aimed to help improve the reward curve for players as they start to reach higher Torment difficulties. We look forward to hearing your feedback as a result of these changes!

It says proactive what does that mean?

It means that we anticipated possible issues with the long-term reward curve at higher difficulty levels based on feedback and game data thus far. As a result, we made some changes to hopefully preempt those issues before they could become prevalent or pronounced.

any chance you will be increasing the drop rate for the materials for reapers wraps?

as it stands i think its nearly impossible to get that item.

The current drop rate is actually bugged. We're still working on a fix, but have not yet developed one. Definitely on our radar!

It's actually in our Known Issues list: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/11883998315

I just hope that Kadala isn't the #1 way to farm for legendaries though. That would be bad and trivialize pretty much everything else.

We agree, and this will be something we continue to actively monitor over the coming days, weeks--even months.

Mighty Belts and Quiver Drop Rates
An upcoming hotfix is the much needed reduction in the drop rates of Quivers and Mighty Belts, which have been far too common. They are being adjusted down in drop rates, to comparable class-specific items.
There's an issue in game right now that causes some items to drop a little more frequently than intended, and mighty belts are one of them. We plan on taking care of it, and we'll be sure to let you know when that happens. Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback, and keep fighting the good fight in Sanctuary!

Would ammys and rings be the others?

It's Mighty Belts and Quivers, actually. The drop rates for these two class-specific items were scaled a bit higher than other class-specific items, which is why players saw them dropping more frequently. We're looking to bring down their drop rates and normalize them against other similar items, and right now we're seeing if we can do that via hotfix.

gg smart loot

For clarity, when an item drops, it only has a chance to be a smart drop (albeit a fairly high one). As a result, you still might find some off-class items while adventuring, though ideally not too many. :)

Enchanting Issue for Legendary Stats
A bug with the Enchantress came up, dealing with the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac legendary item. The player had tried to reroll Strength on the ring, but ended up Enchanting the legendary bonus of all stats. This stat should not be able to be removed with Enchanting, and that will be changed in an upcoming patch.
I'm very sorry to hear about your frustration, but I do have some information on the subject which hopefully will help a little.

For clarity, we didn't intend to allow players to re-roll the all-stat affix on the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac, so the Enchanting UI for it right now isn't optimal. Unfortunately, this isn't something we can hotfix, but we do plan on adjusting the UI so that the all-stat affix is not a re-roll option in an upcoming patch. We don't have an ETA on that patch just yet, but it should be available in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, please note that once the all-stat affix has been removed there isn't a way to get it back, so be sure to keep that in mind when enchanting the ring until this address can be addressed.

Thanks so much for your reports!

Feat of Strength for Collector's Edition
There currently is not a Feat of Strength for purchasing the Collector's Edition of Reaper of Souls. That will be added, and it will retroactively apply to everyone who already had that special edition of the expansion.

Chill out guys, they are aware and will add it in a later

Yup, we will be patching in the Collector's Edition Feat of Strength soon and it will work retroactively :-)
