Public Test Realm Up for Patch 2.0.1

The Loot 2.0 patch is now available to be tested by all Diablo III players

Public Test Realm for Patch 2.0.1
It is a busy day for Diablo III, with the 'Reaper of Souls' expansion growing to a Closed Beta. The regular Public Test Realm is also being opened, for Diablo III patch 2.0.1. This is the monster Loot 2.0 Patch that has been discussed for throughout this year, and includes all the changes to the game that will arrive before the expansion.

Patch 2.0.1 includes such dramatic changes and features such as the Paragon 2.0 System, the itemization overhaul of Loot 2.0, and Cursed Chests that provide new events. All of this can be tested on the PTR.

There was an initial issue with the installer not working in some situations, but that appears to have been resolved. Jump past the break for all the details on how to install and test this new Diablo III patch.

Patch 2.0.1 is currently in development and now available for testing on the PTR. To learn about major changes included in 2.0.1, please see the official PTR patch notes. For information on how to participate, copy over characters, and provide feedback, read on below!

Further details on how to access the PTR and use the Character Copy system can be found in the FAQ.

 How to Participate:

To participate in the public test, you must have a Diablo III game license attached your Battle.net account in good standing (i.e. it hasn't been suspended or banned). In addition, you will also need to download and install the Battle.net desktop app.

Step 1: Create a PTR account. To create a PTR account,  log in to Battle.net Account Management and double-click on your Diablo III game license; this will bring you to the game management page. On this page, click "Create a PTR account." (Note: If you've participated in any previous Diablo III PTR, the "Create PTR account" button may not appear. This is because you've already created a PTR account and can therefore skip this step.)

Step 2: Download and install the Battle.net desktop application.

Step 3: Once you have created a PTR account, installed the Battle.net desktop, and logged in with your Battle.net credentials, select “Diablo III” from the menu on the left-hand side of the application.

Step 4: On the Diablo III screen, there is a drop-down menu right above the “Play” button (note that this may say “Install” if you do not have Diablo III currently installed). Select “PTR: Diablo III” from this drop-down menu before proceeding.

Step 5: You should now have the option to install and play the patch 2.0.1 PTR.

Please note that the 2.0.1 PTR and Reaper of Souls Closed Beta are running on the same client and, as a result, participants will be able to interact and even play with one another.

  • If you do not have a Reaper of Souls Closed Beta license attached to your account, you will only be able to access and test content available in patch 2.0.1.
  • If you have a Reaper of Souls Closed Beta license attached, you will have access to all patch 2.0.1 content as well as expansion-only content including (but not limited to) Act V, the Crusader, and Adventure Mode.

While the 2.0.1 PTR is only available in English and Korean, accounts from all regions are eligible to participate.

 PTR Character Copy:

The option to copy your existing Diablo III characters from your live account to the PTR will be available and can be done directly through the PTR client. However, only one region per account can be copied at a time. So, if you choose to copy characters from your account in a different region, any previously copied PTR characters will be lost.

Step 1: Log into PTR client and create a level 1 character. After you're done, return to the main character screen.

Step 2: Click on the "PTR Copy" button located in the upper right-hand corner. (The PTR Copy button will not appear in-game until you have created a new level 1 character.)

Step 3: Select your region.

Step 4: Click "Copy." This will copy all characters on your account from the selected region.

Step 5: You will be disconnected from the PTR client.

Step 6: Log back in. Your copied characters will be available for play.

Please note that you can only copy characters from one gameplay region at a time. If you choose to copy characters from a different region, any previously copied PTR characters will be lost.

In addition, you can only copy characters over to your PTR account once every 72 hours. Attempting to copy characters before this cooldown is up will result in an error.

Here are the details on the issue with the installer, and the change to the drop-down menu:

I have played every PTR, it is not available anywhere now it just says uninstall.

If you have previously participated in a Diablo 3 PTR, the "Create PTR account" button might not be visible. This is because you've already created a PTR account and can therefore skip this step.

Just make sure you follow the rest of the steps as indicated in our blog.

Happy testing!
Hang tight, folks. We're currently investigating an issue where some players cannot see the "Beta: Reaper of Souls" option in the Battle.net desktop app after successfully creating a PTR account.

I'll keep this thread updated as soon as I learn more.
Just a reference, we're currently tracking updates for PTR related issues in this thread. As more information becomes available, we'll be keeping it up to date.

Thanks!
Excellent! Thanks for the reports guys, we'll make sure to keep an eye on things just in case. =)
As an FYI: the drop down menu should now read "PTR: Diablo III," just to alleviate any confusion.

Thanks for your patience, folks. We appreciate it!

O.o

That's a little odd. I'd recommend posting about that in our PTR Bug Report forum so we can take a closer look.

Thanks!
Have fun with testing Patch 2.0.1!
