Video card not supported by launcher but website says it is?(1)Category: Technical SupportAugust-8-2016 7:35 AM PDT (8 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
When I try to launch D3 I get an unsupported video card error.

Operating System: Windows 7 Service Pack 1
Video Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

On the website it says the Intel HD 4000 series is supported. What's going on or what can I do to solve this? This problem showed up after the launch of 2.4.2. I have been able to play up to that point great.

Fishjerker,

Could you please post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Press Windows Key + R.
Type DxDiag and press Enter.
In the DxDiag window, at the bottom, click Save All Information.
Name the file "dxdiag" and click Save. (note where it's been saved so you can find it)

Locate the Dxdiag.txt file just created and open it to copy and paste ALL of it's contents into your reply.

Fishjerker,

Aren't you able to skip the warning and still play? I believe they added a "Play Anyway" button.

They made some updates to the launcher and what cards/drivers are supported but will give lower performance warnings but as far as I know, it was just for World of Warcraft. I'm checking to see if they're supposed to effect Diablo III.

Update ***

I was told that the changes introduced were only for World of Warcraft.

The launcher may have been confused and was looking at your AMD Firepro M6100 which is not a supported device for our games.

Fishjerker,

I've had a request from the Battle.net Desktop App developers for your LogGoblin logs if you'd be willing to send then in.

You can send the resulting file to me at Omrakos.Support@Blizzard.com

Thanks
Omrakos

Fishjerker,

Could you post your D3Debug.txt file please? We need to see which video card is being used by the game. The file is in your main Diablo III games folder.

Fishjerker,

You may need to set up a profile for D3 by right-clicking anywhere on your desktop and selecting Configure Switchable Graphics.

Then select Diablo III.exe and set it to Power saving.

That should force the client to run on the supported Intel HD 4600 and not the AMD FirePro which is not supported.

You may also need to set the Diablo III Launcher.exe to Power saving as well.

raven,

I'm afraid your video device "Q35 express chipset family " isn't supported for use in Diablo III.

If you were able to install the game, you can try making a small change to your D3Prefs.txt file in your Documents\Diablo III folder but even if this works, gameplay experience will likely be poor.

Make this change

HardwareClass "1" Change whatever number is listed to 1
