After downloading approximately 580 MB of the 2 GB of the 2.4 patch I cannot get anywhere. The patch will not complete its downloading; it tells me I have the needed files to play and the rest of the patch will download in the back ground. Yet, when I click play game, it hangs for quite some time and then I get the following: "Data Retrieval Error: Diablo III was unable to retrieve necessary data. Please check your network connection." My network connection is good, nothing wrong there. I even went through the steps of power cycling my modem and flushing the dns cache just in case; but it did not help. I continue to get the data retrieval error since the 2.4 patch went live for the US region. Any other steps, help or information on this problem? Otherwise the game is completely useless to me. |

my husband downloaded the patch yesterday with no problems and is currently playing the game. - I paused Avast protection. Chlodovitch, I would actually reinstall Avast, and use Avastclear to remove it first. We've seen many cases where this is necessary, as antivirus programs have the uneviable task of having to keep up with a multitude of program patches and revisions, with their exceptions list possibly having too many or duplicate entries.
