Sacrifice Provoke the Pack Limited to 5 Stacks(1)Category: PTR Bug ReportsJune-27-2014 9:01 AM PDT (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
From Patch 2.1.0 PTR Patch Notes

Skill Rune - Provoke the Pack
Has been redesigned
Now gain 20% increased damage for 5 seconds when you sacrifice a dog
This buff gains a stack with each cast and has a maximum of 10 stacks

The actual stack limit appears to be 5 instead of 10.

With Summon Zombie Dogs cooldown reduced to 0 with legacy gear, I can get to a stack of 5 when casting Summon Zombie Dogs between each cast of Sacrifice Attacks per Second at 2.02 (I can actually briefly do so with lower attack speeds as well).

Switching to casting six consecutive Sacrifice between each cast of Summon Zombie Dogs also ends up with 5 stacks maximum even though the casting rate of Sacrifice increases significantly.

I'm not sure if alternating between six Sacrifices and then one Summon Zombie Dogs would theoretically be enough to reach 10 stacks with Attacks per Second at 2.02, but it should definitely result in more than the 5 stacks maximum achieved by only casting one Sacrifice for each Summon Zombie Dog cast if Provoke the Pack was actually limited to 10 Stacks as indicated in the patch notes.

Sacrifice Provoke the Pack Limited to 5 Stacks(4)July-1-2014 4:01 PM PDT (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Great catch!

We've looked into this and discovered that this isn't actually a bug. The 10 stack limitation was from a previous internal build, and the change to 5 stacks prior to the PTR release and during the patch note process went missed. Apologies for the confusion, but Sacrifice (Provoke the Pack) is intended to stack up to 5.

As this is both the way the 2.1 PTR launched and the intended design (and essentially makes it a typo), I've updated the Patch Notes accordingly.

Thanks for the report!
